We encounter a boatload of
advertising on a daily basis. A boatload. Chances are good you have a
browser window open right now that contains some sort of advertising.
You might have a newspaper in the room or a pile of mail, both of which
are likely to include advertising. Just about every television station
runs advertising of some sort.
Even PBS, which claims on its website to "enrich the lives of all
Americans... through the power of noncommercial television", makes sure
to let you know the name and tag line of every major organization that
sponsors their programs.
And when it's not giving airtime to other
interests, PBD is interrupting its shows every few weeks, dozens of
times a day, for 10 minutes at a time to ask its viewers for money.
We can quibble over the definition of "commercial", but it's
advertising nonetheless.
Sorry for the rant on PBS...
The point is we are inundated with advertising all the time. It is more
critical than ever to think outside the box when creating your
marketing messages. Some organizations turn to an advertising company
for help with their business promotion.
For small business owners,
there is no turning to advertising companies for help. It's up to you
to create memorable advertising. You have to create advertising that
leverages whatever opportunity you are given to inspire potential
customers.
Below are a few terrific examples of creative advertising that
inspires. Take a moment to consider how you can reach your potential
customers in unique and effective ways.
